Syrau is a district of Rosenbach / Vogtl. in the Saxon Vogtland.
Geography
Adjacent communities include the city of Plauen in Vogtland and the Thuringian district of Greiz belonging cities Greiz ( district Schönenbach ) and Zeulenroda ( district Bernsgrün ).
History
Syrau was first mentioned in 1282 as Syraw what place means in the pasture. A further possibility is the derivation of the name from the name Siroune Bach, who appeared in the oldest document of the Vogtland 1122. In Schönbacher chronicles the building of a chapel Syrau year is called 1370. ( The chapel Syrau belonged in the 14th century to the parish Magpie Mountain, then to the Abbey Schönenbach )
In GDR times, taught the "Railway Post Office 29 - Halle " in Syrau the children's holiday camp " Gerhard Smith".
On January 1, 1994, until then independent municipality Fröbersgrün closed voluntarily in the community Syrau.

Culture and sights
The most significant attraction of the place is the only naturally formed stalactite cave of Saxony, the dragon's cave Syrau. Can also be visited by the Dutch windmill Syrau, a three-story, built in 1887 and operated until 1929 tower Dutch windmill with largely complete equipment, the only surviving of formerly 31 in the Vogtland, a technical museum.
