Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy of Muvattupuzha

The Eparchy of Muvattupuzha (Latin: Eparchia Muvattupuzhensis ) is a located in India Eparchy of the Syro- Malankara Catholic Church based in Muvattupuzha, Ernakulam district, Kerala.

History

The Eparchy of Muvattupuzha was erected on 15 January 2003 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Communitates terrarum out of territory of the Eparchy of Tiruvalla and Trivandrum archeparchy assumed as suffragan. On 15 May 2006, the Eparchy of Muvattupuzha the archeparchy Tiruvalla was assumed as suffragan.

The Eparchy of Muvattupuzha collected only the Syro -Malankara Catholics in the area. The there is also resident Catholics of the Latin Rite and the Syro -Malabar rite belong to other dioceses.
