Tab Ramos

Tabaré Ramos Ricciardi ( born September 21, 1966 in Montevideo, Uruguay ) is a former American football player.

Tab Ramos finished his career in 2002. He played 1988-2000 81 times for the USA, scoring 8 goals. 2005 was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame.

Youth and College

As a 11 -year-old emigrated Tab Ramos with his family from Uruguay to the United States. He played football in his native country for the Union Vecinal Youth Club. His new residence was New Jersey, where he attended Saint Benedict's Preparatory School. The same school that Claudio Reyna visited a few years later. His first football club in the U.S. was Thistle FC.

In 1984 he was drafted as a teenager from the NASL club New York Cosmos, but chose to study at the North Carolina State University, as the NASL was adjusted.

At NC State, he played four years for the college selection and 3 times appointed to the All-American team, where the best players of all colleges in the country one year are recorded.

Professional career

In 1988 he was A-National player and left the college. Only in 2001 he graduated in Spanish and literature. He made his international debut on January 10, 1988 against Guatemala. He took part in the Summer Olympic Games in 1988. 1990 and 1994 he was part of the World Cup squad in the USA. In 1994, he was so severely wounded in the knockout round match against Brazil at halftime that he could not continue playing and Brazilian Leonardo got the red card. With the U.S. Futsal team, he finished in 1989 with the first Futsal World Cup third place.

Spain

From 1990-1996 he played in Spain in the third division UE Figueres and the then second division side Real Betis. He then moved to Mexico Tigres UANL to.

Metro Stars

As the 1996 Major League Soccer was founded, Tab Ramos returned to the U.S. and played for NY / NJ MetroStars. He was the first player signed a contract with the MLS. In the States, he completed 121 games, scoring 9 goals.

Another career

Since end of his career passes Ramos a football school and a sports park in Aberdeen Township (New Jersey). He is also assistant coach of the U.S. U -20 national football team, and support, currently as the interim coach.
