Tachisme

Tachism (from French la tache = stain color ) is a direction of the Informal Art in abstract painting that emerged in the 1940s in Paris and was active until about 1960. The term was coined by the French art critic Pierre Guéguen, who described the works derogatory tachisme ( German patch work ).

In Tachism the artist tries spontaneous feelings and the unconscious while avoiding represent any rational control by order of patches of color on a canvas. In the United States was approximately parallel temporally abstract expressionism action painting with a closely related method of painting, often both terms are also used interchangeably.

Known representatives are Roger Bissière, Pierre Tal-Coat, Karl Fred Dahmen, Karl Otto Götz, Hoehme, Georges Mathieu, Ludwig Merwart, Emil Schumacher and wolf.
