Tactic (municipality)

Tactic is a place (Villa ) in Guatemala. Tactic is the administrative seat of the greater community ( municipality ) in the department of Alta Verapaz. In the 85 km ² large municipality of about 25,000 people live in Tactic about 3,200.
Geography
Tactic is located in the southwest of Alta Verapaz in the valley of the Río Cahabón at about 1,500 m altitude. About 75 percent of the municipal territory extends in the surrounding mountains, whose highest peak reaches 2,251 m here. The municipal area is dominated by cloud forest and humid - temperate climate. The landscape is similar in amazing ways the central European Alpine foothills.

Population
The majority of the population belongs to the Mayan group of Pocomchí, Kekchi live mainly in the El Manantial Aldeas and La Cumbre, in Chacalté there is a small Achí community that drew upon from the area of Rabinal, Baja Verapaz in long ago. History
In pre-colonial time, there were on the territory of today's municipios several ceremonial centers of the Maya. The area was then called by the Pocomchí " Chiabaatz ", " Ruk'Ux'Akal " and also " Ratz'uum ". Economy and Transport
Tactic is located on the highway CA 14 9 leads from El Rancho (El Progreso ) on the Atlantic Highway CA to Coban, the capital of Alta Verapaz.
