Taddea Visconti
Taddea Visconti (c. 1352; † September 28, 1381 ), one of the hundred thousand guilders daughters from the hustle and Mr. Bernabo Visconti, was from 1367 to her death as the wife of Stephen III. Duchess of Bavaria.
Life
Taddea was born around 1352 as one of at least 15 children Bernabo Visconti. When the Bavarian dukes allied with her father in 1365, this alliance was sealed by a double engagement: On August 12, 1365 became engaged in Milan Taddea and Stephen III. of Bavaria and her younger brother Marco and Stephen niece Elizabeth, the four year old daughter of his brother Frederick. Further negotiations between Wittelsbachern and Visconti are documented in nine documents from the years 1366 and 1367: In October 1366 won a Bavarian Legation Count Meinhard of Gorizia as matchmakers and tipped in Milan outstanding issues, in November sent Bernabo to contract authorized ambassadors to Bavaria which overtook the approval of the Habsburgs, and the dowry was in April 1367 in Milan finally passed that was impressive 100,000 guilders. Even after deducting the money that brought his niece Elisabeth into the marriage with Marco Visconti, Stephan remained 55,000 florins, which he probably invested in creating its own part rule.
After the negotiations had come to a conclusion, to Taddea made his way to Bavaria, where even in 1367 the wedding took place. Then she lived with her husband Stephen in the various residences of the dukes of Bavaria in Munich, Landshut, Burghausen and Ingolstadt and accompanied him on his travels. On September 29, 1376 she is with her husband and his brother Friedrich, who were Swabian Reichslandvögte since 1374, detected in Augsburg. Taddea and her mother Margaret of Zollern received this day a wine gift from the city and took part in an evening dance in honor of the ducal guests. When she, well after a long absence, returned in 1380 to Munich again, she got from the commonwealth of a cash gift in the amount of 10 pounds. On September 28, 1381 Taddea died at the age of only 29 years.
Maybe Taddea was buried in the Munich Frauenkirche, her grave has been found but not yet. Her two children with Stephen III. , Duke Louis VII of Bavaria -Ingolstadt (1368-1447) and Queen Isabeau of France (1370-1435), her preserved in our memory. Ludwig put them in the prayers that should be spoken to his memory, in first place and Isabeau let her in Paris as the parents and grandparents of the king's honor with a year day. To this day, a richly decorated Book of Hours from the 14th century in the Bavarian State Library, which bears the coat of arms of the Wittelsbach and the Visconti, the connection between the two families.
