Tadija Kačar

Tadija Kačar (born 16 January 1956 in Perućici at Jajce, Republic of Bosnia, Yugoslavia ) is a former Yugoslavian boxer.

Already at the 3rd European Junior Championships in Kiev in 1974, he won the silver medal in the welterweight division. He suggested doing Jenő Danyi from Hungary, Hans bong from Sweden and the British Kirkland Laing, before losing in the final against Mikhail Bychkov from the Soviet Union.

In the 21th Summer Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976 he won the silver medal in the light middleweight. He won it against the Danish Poul Frandsen, the Iranians Mohamed Azarhazin and the Romanians Vasile Didea, before the Pole Jerzy Rybicki lost the final.

In 1977, he took in the light middleweight in part at the 22nd European Championships in Germany, however, where he already lost his first fight against the Scots Charles Malarkey. For this he won in the same year, the first Feliks tribe Memorial in Warsaw. He defeated Pedro Cárdenas from Cuba, Paweł Skrzecz (2nd place Olympia 1980) from Poland and John Odhiambo ( Olympian 1976) from Uganda.

In 1978 and 1979 he was Yugoslav champion in the light heavyweight division. In 1978 he also won the silver medal in the light heavyweight division at the 2nd World Championships in Belgrade. After victories against Dimitar Lubenov from Bulgaria and Herbert belly from Germany, he lost in the final against the Cubans Sixto Soria.

In 1979 he also won the 8th Mediterranean Games in Split. He was about to start in the middleweight division, in order to not compete against his equally fighting at light heavyweight brother must; his brother could win the gold medal in addition also. He also took another 1979 at the 23rd European Championships in Germany, where he won the silver medal in the light heavyweight division. He won it against Bozhidar Ivanov from Bulgaria, Kurt Seiler from Germany and Giorgica Donici from Romania, before he succumbed from the Soviet Union in the final Albert Nikolyan.

In 1981 he became Yugoslav vice- champion in the light heavyweight division. He lost the final Pero Tadić ( bronze medalist of the 1982 World Cup ).

In 1980 he was honored along with karate master Jovica Bozic with the gold coin " Titov zlatinik ".

His younger brother Slobodan Kačar was a boxer in the light heavyweight division, the Olympic champion in 1980 and IBF World Champion from December 1985 to September 1986. He is also the uncle of the soccer players Gojko Kačar from Hamburger SV.
