Tadj ol-Molouk

Tadj ol Molouk ( born Nimtaj Ayromlou; born March 17, 1896 in Baku, Azerbaijan, † March 10, 1982 in Acapulco, Mexico) was the wife of Reza Shah Pahlavi, the founder of the Pahlavi dynasty and the mother of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Persia. It originates from the Eymür from Azerbaijan, whose members immigrated to Iran in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Biography

Tadj ol Molouk Reza Shah Pahlavi married in 1916 She was his second wife, the first died in 1904 from the marriage four children were born: .. Eldest daughter Shams ( born October 18, 1917 † 1996), Mohammad Reza and his twin sister Ashraf, ( born October 26, 1919), Ali Reza ( April 1, 1922 *, † October 26, 1954 in a plane crash ). 1922 married Reza Shah his third wife, Turane, and in 1923 the fourth, Esmat. The marriage with Tadj ol Molouk remained upright.

She was the first queen in Iran, which held a public position: both at official and social occasions. She sat up very much for the veil ban. In 1934 Tadj ol Molouk proved to be first queen unveiled the population. After the Shah had published pictures of his undisguised wife and daughters, the men were stopped to unveil their wives. 1941 was forced to abdicate in favor of their son, her husband.

Before the Islamic Revolution in 1979, she was taken by her son to Los Angeles to safety. There, students attacked the Queen's house in Beverly Hills. She and her daughter fled further to Palm Springs. Tadj ol Molouk died in 1982 in Acapulco, Mexico, from the effects of leukemia, seven days before her 86th birthday.
