Tägerig (Swiss German: Tae ː ɡə ˌ riɡ ) is a municipality in the district Bremgarten in the Swiss canton of Aargau. It is located in the Reuss valley.

Geography

The village is situated on a formed by the Reuss glacier area, terrace on the northeastern slope of the Wagenrain, an elongated ridge that forms the natural border with the Bünztal. The river flows about half a kilometer east of the village center to the northwest, where the river has formed by erosion around a 20 -meter-deep notch in the bottom otherwise. The slopes of the Wagenrain are at the bottom of steep and go at the top of the extended Rötler Plateau over. At this level, approximately one mile south of Tägerig, situated at an altitude of 485 meters, the hamlet Büschikon.

The area of the municipality is 330 hectares, of which 132 hectares are covered by forest and built over 56 hectares. Neighboring municipalities are Mellingen in the north, Stetten in the east, in the southeast Niederwil, Hägglingen in the south, and Wohlenschwil in the northwest.

History

Tegeranc was first mentioned in 1189, when Pope Clement III. the village presented with a screen letter under the protection of the monastery Muri. The place name comes from Old High Tegerwanc and means " large slope ." The first mention of the hamlet Büschikon took place in 1315, when Ulrich Meyer of pipe village, a citizen of the city Mellingen, his property mortgaged to the Convention as Gnadenthal.

1415 conquered the Swiss Canton Aargau. Tägerig now belonged to the Official Niederwil in the outdoor offices, a common rule. Administration and jurisdiction lay in the hands of the city Mellingen. 1627 gathered a plague a large part of the population then. In the Swiss peasant war of 1653 and in the two Villmerger wars of 1656 and 1712, the village was looted, respectively.

In March 1798, the French invaded Switzerland and proclaimed the Helvetic Republic. Tägerig became a municipality in the canton of Baden short-lived, since 1803 it belongs to the canton of Aargau. On March 17, 1838 fire destroyed almost the entire village, only a few houses remained. In the second half of the 19th century, the population decreased by almost 40 percent. Attractions
