Tahuata Rail

Gallirallus Roletti was a medium-sized flightless Gallirallus - type of the island Tahuata which is one of the Marquesas Islands, located in the South Eastern Pacific. She was about as big as Gallirallus owstoni, G. philippensis, G. striatus and G. torquatus. You greater than ripleyi G. and G. wakensis but smaller than G. australis, G. and G. vekamatolu woodfordi.

From Gallirallus Roletti total of 22 bones are known, most of which, however, were not related, but have not found one. Since the bone finds the sternum, scapula and wing bones were removed, the inability to fly the type was only seen from the fact that the coracoid was formed relatively small and, as with other flightless species of the genus.

The Rail was named after Barry V. Rolett, to honor him for his research in the Marquesas Islands. His excavations at the excavation site " Hananiai " provided the largest and most useful found on the Maquesen Group of Gallirallus bone.
