Tai Wu

King Tài Wu († 1562 BC) or Da Wu (Chinese大 戊) reigned as the ninth or tenth king of the Shang dynasty for 75 years in the 17th and 16th century, pre-Christian China. He was the younger brother of King Yong Ji. During his era, he appointed Yǐn Zhi (Chinese尹 陟) and Wu Xi'an (Chinese巫咸) to ministers. They were regarded as particularly talented. The state should have been well managed and the feudal princes ranged themselves under his rule.

Comments to the temple name

Not every king of the Shang dynasty had a temple name, and a given temple name is a testament to the fact that his government was regarded by subsequent generations in the Shang Dynasty as successful.

On the basis of Shiji the king should be with the temple name of Zhong Tai Zong Wu, but on the basis of Bamboo Annals and oracle bones Yinxu to the Zhong Zong Yi Qie be king. Many believe, should that be an error in Shiji.
