Taichung County

The district of Taichung (Chinese台中 县/台中 县, Pinyin Taizhong Xiàn, Tongyong Pinyin Táijhong Sian, W.-G. Tai -chung Hsien, PEH oē - jī Tâi - Tiong koan, also台中 县) is a former administrative unit of the Republic of China on Taiwan. It extended from the west coast of Taiwan in the Formosastraße up in the mountainous region in the center of the island. The area enclosed by him eponymous Taichung City was not part of the district as a county-level city. District administration office was located northeast of the city of Taichung Fengyuan; the largest city of the county was (as of 2010 ) Dali south of Taichung.

Ending 25 December 2010, the Taichung County was dissolved and its cities and towns incorporated as districts in the city of Taichung, which received the status of a centrally-administered city as a result of enlargement.
