Taisto Sinisalo

Taisto Jalo Sinisalo ( born June 29, 1926 in Kotka, † March 26, 2002 ) was a Finnish politician of the Communist Party of Finland (SKP ) and later the Communist Party of Finland (Unity) ( SKPy ).

Taisto Sinisalo was the illegitimate son of Jaada Sinisalo and Karl Lindstedt, who were both involved in the labor movement. He grew up in the southern Finnish port of Kotka in Katariina district.

Sinisalos political career began as a local official of the Democratic Youth League of Finland ( SDNL ). 1950 Sinisalo was elected to the city council in his hometown Kotka. After a brief study in Moscow Sinisalo 1957 returned to Finland. In the parliamentary elections in 1962, he was the Democratic Union of the Finnish people ( SKDL ), who was also the SKP, elected to the Finnish parliament and retained his seat there until 1979. Within the SKP he was the leader of the orthodox pro-Soviet wing of the party. The members of this wing of the party were called after Taisto Sinsalo as " Taistoaner " or " Sinisaloisten ". The wing of the party turned out in 1966 as a minority against the government of the SKDL, which resulted as the choice of Euro Communists Aarne Saarinen party chairman to a violent party strife. Sinisalo was finally 1970-1982 Vice Chairman of the SKP while Saarinen held the party chairmanship. After the split in the middle of the SKP 1980 Sinisalo joined the newly founded SKPy its first chairman from 1986 until 1988. The influence of SKPy in the political Finland, however, remained low.

Sinisalo married in 1948 Saara Annikki Turkia and had three children with her: Vesa Sakari (* 1950), Tapio Kalervo (* 1953) and Pirkko Liisa (* 1954). He died after a long illness on 26 March 2002 75 -year-old in his native city of Kotka.
