Takami Akai

Takami Akai (赤 井 孝 美Japanese, Takami Akai, born November 21, 1961 in Yonago ) is a Japanese illustrator, character designer and game creators. Takami Akai is a founding member and former president of Gainax, and founder of game developer Nine Lives. Takami Akai is married to the mangaka Kimiko Higuchi (ひぐち きみこ, Kimiko Higuchi ).

Biography

Takami Akai closed the Tottori Prefecture high school Sakai (鸟取 県 立 境 高等学校, Tottori kenritsu Sakai Kōtō Gakko ) into Sakaiminato. He then attended the School of Art Osaka in the Department of Planning (映像 计画 学科, Eizo keikaku gakka; Today: Faculty image ) of the Faculty of Arts Sciences. During his studies he took part in the 1981 production of the opening film for the Japanese science fiction convention Daicon III, where he was responsible for the character design. With his fellow students Hiroyuki Yamaga and Hideaki Anno, who belonged to the production committee also, he founded the Independantfilmgruppe Daicon film, from 1984, the animation studio Gainax emerged.

When Daicon film production Kaettekita Ultraman he stood out as special director by his impressive use of works on paper and his camera work, so some years later Tsuburaya Production, the producer of the Ultraman series, gave permission to the special effects scenes on DVD publishing.

In the illustrations for the first Princess Maker (1991 ) it was based on the style of Alphonse Maria Mucha. Together with Hiroyuki Morioka he became the Seikai series the alphabet Ath.

On 4 April 2007 Takami Akai posted on the side of a Gainax - employees in the social network mixi, after he read a critical thread on 2channel regarding Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, an entry " So that to read something serious, like his face to adhere to an anus and take a deep train ". This led to a controversy on the Internet, in the course of Takami Akai resigned on 27 April as a producer of the series and as Gainax - Chairman.
