Take 6 is a pop, jazz, soul a cappella group from the USA.

History

In 1980, the group of Claude McKnight as " Gentlemen's Estate Quartet " at " Oakwood College " ( an Adventist school in Huntsville, Alabama) was founded. She wore mainly before barbershop singing. A few months later, Mark Kibble heard the group in a men's room of the College sing and joined in spontaneously. The group practiced there because of the favorable acoustics (Source: www.shmf.de ). Kibble, Claude McKnight of since his childhood in Buffalo, New York, knew, then became a new member. The group expanded further when Mervyn Warren was come as the sixth member. The group name eventually changed to " Sounds of Distinction " and " Alliance " to " Take 6 ". Previously, each time it emerged that another group already used the same name. Later, Cedric Dent, Alvyn Chea and David Thomas were added.

A wider audience, they were known as the famous producer Quincy Jones, 1989, for his CD "Back on the Block" under his wing, adding a bit of a cappella singing with Al Jarreau, Ella Fitzgerald, Bobby McFerrin (Wee B. Dooinit ) and an instrumental piece of the Brazilian singer and composer Ivan Lins ( Septembro - Brazilian Wedding Song ) under painted with their harmonious vocals.

1991 Mervyn Warren left the band and was replaced by Mark Kibbles younger brother Joey Kibble.

They produce and arrange the majority of their pieces and CDs themselves, they have won several Grammys in the U.S. as best vocal group.

They all belong to the Protestant Free Church of Seventh- day Adventists.

With their songs they want to encourage especially other people. Their music is always positive and varied, and range from gospel and jazz to pop and soul music in the inside.

Characteristic of Take 6 are vocal conciseness and clarity, frequent virtuoso melismas and even for professional vocal groups exceptionally clean intonation as well as an amazing homogeneity of the group sound.
