Talbingo Dam

The Talbingo Dam is the largest dam in the Snowy Mountains in Australia. The dam is on the Tumut River in New South Wales at Talbingo. The connected hydropower plant is the largest in the Snowy Mountains hydroelectric complex. The dam is a rockfill dam and 162 feet high with an inclined core of clay on the water side to seal. When the dam was built in 1971, it was the highest in Australia. Today it is the third highest after the Thomson Dam and Dartmouth Dam.
