Tamasu (corporation)

Tamasu K. K. (Japanese株式会社 タマス, Kabushiki - gaisha Tamasu ) is a Japanese manufacturer of table tennis accessories, but especially the pads for table tennis bats, branded Butterfly.

The company was founded in 1950 by the former table tennis national team Hikosuke Tamasu (* August 20, 1920, † 22 July 2004 ) founded in Yanai. Since 1993 Butterfly has been led by the son of the founder Kimihiko Tamasu and today Shunsaku Yamada. Today's company is based in Suginami.

The Company has foreign subsidiaries in Moers, Germany ( Tamasu Butterfly Europa GmbH, TBE), Shanghai, People's Republic of China ( China Tamasu Butterfly TBC) and Seoul, South Korea ( Korea Tamasu Butterfly, TBK ).

Many top players like Timo Boll, Werner Schlager, Kalinikos Kreanga, Michael Maze, Oh Sang Eun, Zhang Yining, Zoran Primorac, Holger Nikelis, Ai Fukuhara use the company's products.

Tamasu Butterfly Europe

The European Tamasu Butterfly Europa GmbH subsidiary is located in Moers. It was from 1973 to 1985 by Dr. Béla Simon, husband of Agnes Simon, directed. His successor was Hideyuki Kamizuru, the husband of the German table tennis national player Ursula Hirschmüller. Since 2011, Taisei Imamura is the managing director of European operations.

In the 1970s, the company published the magazine table tennis -report.
