The Tampere University of Technology ( TUT) (Finnish: Tampere teknillinen yliopisto (TTY )) is the second largest technical university in Finland. The university is located in Hervanta, a district of Tampere. Similar to the University of Tampere has around 13,000 students and about 2000 employees.

The TUT was established in 1965 as a branch of the Helsinki University of Technology in 1972 and received full university status. Previously the state, it is supported by a foundation under private law since 2010 and serves teaching and research. The latter focuses primarily on applied sciences. Made to the company in the neighboring Technology Centre Hermia close relationships as well as to Nokia: The Nokia Group maintains very close to the University of Tampere, a large research and development center.

2003, the University changed its name from Finnish Tampere teknillinen korkeakoulu (Technical University of Tampere ) in Tampere teknillinen yliopisto ( Tampere University of Technology ), so that the Finnish name of the German and English name ( Tampere University of Technology) accessible.
