The Tangula Station (Chinese唐古拉 站/唐古拉 站, Pinyin táng gǔ laa Zhan ) is a railway station in Amdo Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China. The station has three tracks, two of which are at platforms.

History

This unoccupied station of Lhasa railway was put into operation on 1 July 2006. It lies at an altitude of 5068 m, surpassing Ticlio (Peru ) at 4829 m, Cóndor on the Rio Mulatos - Potosí line (Bolivia ) to 4786 m and Galera station ( Peru) to 4781 m. This Tangula is the highest station in the world. It is located one kilometer distance from the culmination of the highest railway in the world ( 5072 m).

The platform is 1250 meters long with 77 002 m². The station has three tracks. The location of the station was chosen mainly because of the view from the platform.

Since 2008, operate " Tangula Rail Tours ", a joint venture of "Rail Partners" and " Qinghai Tibet Rail Corp.. ", A tourist railway line from Beijing to Lhasa run over the pass, on the special luxury trains.

Timetables

As of 2009, keep passenger trains while at the station, but getting in and out is not possible.
