Tarek Mitri

Tarek Mitri (Arabic طارق متري, born September 16, 1950 in Tripoli ) is a Lebanese university professor Greek Orthodox faith and independent politician who served in various public offices.

Life

Tarek Mitri received his Ph.D. in political science at the University of Paris X. He worked from 1982 to 1991 as a lecturer at the Université Saint -Joseph in Beirut. In addition, he served as a visiting professor in several international institutions. He has extensive experience in the promotion of Christian- Muslim relations and has published many writings on this topic. Mitri was established in 2005 with the State Minister for Environment and Administrative Development of the Republic of Lebanon. He also served on an interim basis as secretary of state before the cabinet of Fouad Siniora was formed in 2006. On 11 July 2008 he was appointed Minister of Information of the Cabinet of Prime Minister Siniora.

On September 12, 2012, he was General of the United Nations, Ban Ki -moon, the Special Representative and Head of the Mission of Support ( UNSMIL ) of the United Nations appointed in Libya.

Perspectives

Tarek Mitri says that his role is that of a lawyer, who argued for freedom of expression and freedom of thought of intellectuals and artists. Mitri is also known to be a supporter of Lebanon's unity.
