Tarell Alvin McCraney

Tarell Alvin McCraney (born 17 October 1980) is an American playwright and actor. He is a member of Teo Castellanos / D Projects Theater Company in Miami and in 2008 was International Writer in Residence for the Royal Shakespeare Company in London.

Life

McCraney attended an arts high school in Miami. At DePaul University in Chicago, he earned a bachelor as an actor. In 2007 he graduated from the Dramatists course the Yale School of Drama.

As an actor, McCraney has worked with directors such as Tina Landau from the Steppenwolf Theatre Ensemble in Chicago, David Cromer and with Peter Brook, with whom he will also be workshops.

In 2013 he received a MacArthur Fellowship.
