Taricha
California Yellow-bellied newt ( Taricha torosa )
The North American Newts ( Taricha ) are a species-poor genus of Caudata in North America. The animals arrive in the Pacific coast region between southern Alaska and northwestern Mexico before ( Baja California ) and reach body lengths of up to 22 centimeters. They live both aquatil as well as terrestrial. All species are highly poisonous, they contain the poison tetrodotoxin ( TTX). It is also known under the name Tarichatoxin - the genre was this name-giving.
