Tarsem King, Baron King of West Bromwich

Tarsem King, Baron King of West Bromwich, of West Bromwich in the County of West Midlands JP ( born April 24, 1937 † January 9, 2013 in London, England ) was a British Labour Party politician, who since 1999 as a Life Peer member of the House of Lords was.

Life

King worked as an assistant with the Labour Party, among others, from 1960 to 1962 and graduated after working as a trainee in a foundry in the years 1964 to 1965 to study mathematics. Subsequently, he was initially 1968-1974 teacher and later from 1974 to 1990 deputy head of the mathematics department at a school. In 1990 he gave up his teaching job and moved to the private sector, where he was between 1990 and 2007 the company's CEO Sandwell Polybags Ltd..

By Letters Patent of 22 July 1999 King was raised as a life peer with the title Baron King of West Bromwich, of West Bromwich in the County of West Midlands in the peerage. 2001 King, 1987 Justice of the Peace of West Bromwich, Mayor of Sandwell and from 2002 to 2007 was chairman of the city committee of West Bromwich. In addition, he was active as a trustee of the South Staffordshire Water Disconnections Charitable Trust and as Vice President of the Christian Association Young People ( YMCA ) in West Bromwich. Lord King was awarded the honorary title of Alderman in 2009 and a Freeman of the Metropolitan Borough of Sandwell in 2008 and received an honorary doctorate distant ( Hon. Ph.D.) from the University of Wolverhampton.

Tarsem King died on January 9, 2013, at the age of 75 years, at London's Euston station to a heart attack.
