West Bromwich

West Bromwich [ wɛst bɹɒmɪtʃ ] is part of the 1974 incurred in the course of municipal reform Metropolitan Borough of Sandwell northwest of Birmingham and thus part of the metropolitan county of West Midlands. Historically, West Bromwich is part of the heavy industry dominated by Black Country and is known for its football club West Bromwich Albion, who play their home games at the Stadium " The Hawthorns ". The village lies on the M5 motorway, which leads from Birmingham to Bristol.

In 2001, West Bromwich had 136 940 inhabitants.

History

West Bromwich was first mentioned in the Domesday Book in the year 1086. Since the 12th century there was a Benedictine monastery in the place to which West Bromwich continued to develop. 1727 the site was station on the coach route from London to Shrewsbury, which gave West Bromwich greater importance. In the 19th century, coal deposits were discovered, bringing the city rose to become the industrial center.
