Taryn Manning

Taryn Manning ( born November 6, 1978 in Tucson, Arizona) is an American singer and actress.

Life and career

At night, her father worked as a musician and during the day as a hotel manager. After the divorce of their parents Manning grew up in Tucson. But they took every opportunity to return to the east coast and to visit her father. During this time she appeared always in 4-star hotels, where she also worked from time to time. When Manning was 12 years old, her older brother Kellin went to college and moved to San Diego, California with her mother. There she discovered her acting talent. During this time they also operate a very successful sport. So she was State Champion in Karate in two consecutive years. When she was 16, she was U.S. champion in dancing. Furthermore, she took after school singing and acting lessons. Among her classmates were, among others, Leelee Sobieski, Erika Christensen and Kirsten Dunst.

The hard work should pay off, because after leaving school took Manning minor roles in television series such as New York Cops - NYPD Blue, Practice - The lawyers and Pacific Blue - The beach police. In 1999 she played a supporting role in the short-lived FOX series Six under one roof for 9 episodes when Rebecca Peabody.

In 2001, she tried in vain as a candidate in the TV show Popstars. The following year she gained a greater awareness through a role as a friend of the woman represented by Britney Spears in the movie Crossroads - Crossroads. It was followed by appearances in productions such as White Oleander, Eminem's autobiographical film 8 Mile, Hustle & Flow and Cold Mountain alongside Jew Law and Nicole Kidman.

Besides Manning continues to work as a singer and musician. In 2003 she founded together with her older brother Kellin the band Boomkat. Initially, the band was only KAT, which stood for " Kellin and Taryn ." Boomkat also contributed a track to the soundtrack of 8 Mile, entitled Wasting My Time. The debut album of the band was called Boomkatalog.One ( 2003). After a long break appeared officially in 2009 (online in 2008 ), the second studio album called A million trillion stars.
