Tashfin ibn Ali

Tashfin ibn Ali (Arabic تاشفين بن علي, DMG Tāšfīn b ʿ Alī; . † March 23, 1145 ) was ruler of the Almoravids ( 1143-1145 ).

Tashfin ibn Ali was named in 1128 by his father Ali ibn Yusuf ( 1106-1143 ) Governor of Granada. As he proved himself as a capable military leader, his father ordered him ten years later for support against the Almohads back to Marrakech. After the death of Ali ibn Yusuf ibn Ali Tashfin took over the leadership of the Almoravids. In order to stop the resurgent Almohads in northern Morocco, the troops of Al -Andalus had to be deducted, which has also been shaken by revolts against the rule of the Almoravids.

The decline of the empire still could not be stopped. As leader of the mercenaries Reverter 1144 fell in battle, the Christian mercenaries deserted to the Almohad Abd al - Mumin. This final won by the upper hand and defeated Tashfin ibn Ali in 1145, when Oran. Shortly afterwards died Tashfin ibn Ali. Successor to his brother Ishaq were first his son Ibrahim ( 1145 ), then ( 1146-1147 ).
