Tatyana Shchelkanova

Tatjana Sergejewna Schtschelkanowa (. Татьяна Сергеевна Щелканова Russian, English transcription Tatyana Shchelkanova; born April 18, 1937 in Jeisk; † 24 November 2011) was a Russian long jumper who - was successful in the first half of the 1960s - starting for the Soviet Union. She jumped four world records and won a championship. She lived and trained in Leningrad.

Although her athletic talent already showed during school time, their love was first the theater. It was not until the age of 18 she began to train seriously, initially under Margarita Dmitrievna Balaschowa, a champion of the sport in the hurdles, and later under the long jumper Anatoli Kuznetsov.

Between 1961 and 1966 she won a total of 10 Soviet championships in the long jump, pentathlon and 4x100 m.
