History

There are a few traces of settlement from the Neolithic period ( 5500-2200 BC) in the region. In Henvic there was a dolmen and menhir one. In Kervadogan polished stone axes were found. In the hamlet Kergariou they found traces of the Bronze Age ( 2200-1200 BC), including a hillside grave. Two other burial mounds are near the train station. In the Iron Age, the region was settled by Osismiern, a Celtic tribe which is counted among the Gauls. In Gallo -Roman period (52 BC to 486 AD), joined a branch of the great Roman road from Carhaix- Plouguer ( Vorgium ) to Brest ( Gesocribate ) Morlaix with Saint- Pol-de -Léon.

After the battle of Chester ( 607 or 616) fled Celts from Wales and settled on the northwest coast of Finistere. They founded the Cornwall, which reached to Morlaix and adjacent to the south by the Pays de Léon. The Cornish language influenced the regional dialect of the Breton language. In Taulé the Breton language is still maintained.
