Teluk Intan

Teluk Intan is a town in the state of Perak in Malaysia.

History

The first inhabitants belonged to the Kingdom of Malacca. As refugees from the Portuguese conquest in 1511, they settled at Perak at the site of the present city.

Under the name " Teluk Intan Mak " the city was since 1528 Court Place, to this function in 1877 went to Kuala Kangsar. This name was based on a local shopkeeper, who came from the tribe based in northern Sumatra Mandailing.

Under British protection related to the name " Teluk Anson ( Anson Bay) " after the Lieutenant Governor of Penang Edward Anson, because this made ​​the 1882 Urban Planning. 1982 changed the Sultan of Perak in the name of " Teluk Intan ( Diamond Bay ) ".

Economy
