Tequila Sunrise (cocktail)

The Tequila Sunrise ( Sunrise ) is a fruity, sweet cocktail of tequila, orange juice, lemon juice and grenadine. It owes its name to the characteristic color gradation from yellow- orange (top) through orange to orange-red (below ), since the Grenadine is given until the end in the glass and falls through the ice down. On the lemon juice is sometimes omitted. The drink is one of the long drinks and is prepared and served in a highball glass over ice.

History

In the 1920s, the cocktails Tequila Daisy Tequila Sunrise and were mixed in the bar of the racecourse of the Mexican town of Agua Caliente ( Tijuana). The Sunrise consisted of tequila, ( lemons) lemonade, grenadine, creme de cassis and soda water.
