Terrassa FC

The Terrassa Futbol Club is a Spanish football club based in Terrassa in Catalonia. The club established in 1906 and plays in the 2007/ 08 season in the Segunda División B, Group III.

History

The beginnings

The club was founded in 1906. Even in the early years, the club has been very successful in Catalonia and it developed a rivalry with CE Sabadell. In 1917 the club played among other international games against Swiss club FC Basel and many more. Even against the great FC Barcelona Terrassa won 2-1 and 1-0. Terrassa took at that time, the early 20s, in many national trophies in part, those who had a great importance due to the lack of an official Spanish Championship. Beginning of the 30s the club was financially weakened and could never do justice to its competition to the rivals FC Barcelona and RCD Espanyol.

70s/80s years

In the 1971/72 season FC Terrassa rose in the playoffs against UD Almería in the Segunda División, as the Andalusians an illegal player inserting. From 7000 members of the 70s were the beginning to the Annual General Meeting on 14 July 1983 just 924 members. Meanwhile, the club had debts of 16 million pesetas. In subsequent years, the Catalans developed more and more of a lift team between Third League and the League Regional ( 5 league).

The last years

In the 90 years the association was several times before the financial ruin but was saved by companies and fans in each case at the last moment. In the 2001/2002 season Terrassa managed with a new record of 6 wins the rise División in 6 games in the play-offs in the Segunda. This had after three seasons in 2005 the transition back to the Segunda División B is ending, one is currently looking to set up the club financially compensated.

Stadium

The Terrassa FC plays in the Olympic Stadium de Terrassa, which offers 11,500 spectators. The stadium was inaugurated in 1960. The playing field measures 105 × 70 meters.
