Terry Austin (comics)

Terry Austin ( born August 23, 1952) is an American comic book artist.

Life and work

Austin began working as a professional cartoonist in the 1970s. He has been primarily on the pencil drawings by other artists specializing in ink to work to make it as prepare ( " sink ") for the mass duplication.

His artistic breakthrough came Austin, who began his career as an assistant to Dick Giordano, 1976 as the Tuscher written by Steve Englehart and illustrated by Marshall Rogers Batman storyline "Strange Apparitions ", which appeared in the series Detective Comics. After his move to Marvel comics he inkte 1977 John Byrne's work on the series Uncanny X -Men, which was not least because of Austin's atmospheric ink to the then best-selling comic book series of the United States and to which he remained faithful until 1981.

Since then, Austin has worked among others for the series Doctor Strange, Superman, Justice League America and Green Lantern. Among the artists whose work Austin has inked include alongside John Byrne as artist Darryl Banks, Kevin Maguire and Paul Smith. Artists who were avowedly influenced by Austin's work, are about Andy Lanning and Art Thibert.

Among the few pencil work Austin include the One Shot Last of the Dragons in 1991 and the issues # 123 and 142 of the Uncanny X -Men.

In recognition of his artistic achievements Austin was from 1986 to 1989 as well as 1996 and 1997 winner of the Comic Buyers' Fan Award in the category "Best Inker ".
