Tessin Palace

The Tessinsche Palace is a building in the old town of Stockholm. It was built in 1692 by the architect of the Stockholm Palace, Nicodemus Tessin the Younger, for himself and his family.

The facade is in Baroque style and the interior courtyard includes a garden with a fountain. For the decoration of the interiors Ticino won several French artists. 1755 the son of the architect, the statesman and diplomat Carl Gustaf Tessin, forced for economic reasons, the palace of the royal house was for sale. Actually, Prince Charles was to enter, but he found suitable premises in the Royal Castle. Subsequently, the City of Stockholm bought the palace as a residence for the chief governor.

Since 1968, the Tessinsche palace is the residence of the provincial government of Stockholm County. The building is now owned by the State.
