Teun van Vliet

Teun van Vliet ( born March 22, 1962 in Vlaardingen ) is a former Dutch cyclist and cycling official.

Sports career

As a junior was Teun van Vliet 1979 junior world champion in the points race, the year after he won the national junior title in this discipline.

From 1984 to 1990 Teun van Vliet worked as a professional cyclist and drove at the Panasonic team under Peter Post. His greatest successes were his victory in 1984 at the Circuit de Lorraine and 1986 at the Grand Prix d' Isbergues 1987 and his overall victory at the Tour of the Netherlands, at Gent- Wevelgem and the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. In 1984 he was third in the Tour of Lombardy, Milan - Sanremo in 1985, second from 1987 and also second from the Paris -Tours. In 1987, he won the fifth stage of the Tour de Suisse. Diseases

Family

His sister is the former racing driver Nita van Vliet, the Dutch road champion in 1977, and he is the uncle of her son Arjen de Baat, which is also cyclist.
