Teuva

Teuva [ tɛu̯vɑ ] (Swedish: Östermark ) is a municipality in western Finland with 5774 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is located in the countryside 36 kilometers north-east of South Ostrobothnia Kristinestad. Neighboring cities and municipalities are Kurikka in the north, Kauhajoki in the southeast, Karijoki in the south and Närpes in the West. The community Teuva is exclusively Finnish speakers.

Location

Teuva located in the Finnish-speaking part of the Ostrobothnia region in a shallow river. The population is concentrated along the banks of the Teuvajoki River and its tributaries. History

Personalities

The most famous son Teuvas is the theologian and politician Lauri Ingman, who was 1918-1919 and 1924-1925 Finnish Prime Minister.
