Thachulf, Duke of Thuringia

Thakulf ( * before 837; † August 1 873 ) was the first detectable Margrave of Sorbenmark. In a letter of Abbot Hatto I of Fulda ( 842-856 ) to Pope Leo IV it was called the Duke of Thuringia.

For the first time Thakulf enters into a deed of gift of Fulda in 837 as a witness. In the year 848 he gives himself the monastery of Fulda from his own property " provinciola Sarowe sita juxta Boemiam ", probably meaning the space Saara and Schmölln is meant in the southern Pleißengau. However, the estate went to the monastery of Fulda lost again, perhaps in the years after 880 and 892, as the structure of the Sorbenmark was shaken. The Fulda annals report that he 855 was trying to subdue the Daleminzen. In the year 858 he leads a campaign against the Sorbs.

Ratolf was 874 his successor.
