Thankmarsfelde

Thank Champ de Mars was a former Benedictine monastery in the resin ( highlands) south of Ballenstedt.

It was founded by Archbishop Gero of Cologne and his brother Margrave Thietmar on August 29, 970 in the church in Thank Champ de Mars and doped. With the aim to evangelize the Sorbian population in Gau Serimunt, the monastery was laid already 975 to Nienburg. The founding of the monastery was on December 25, 971 by Pope John XIII. confirmed.
