The Almighty Johnsons

The Almighty Johnsons is a New Zealand fantasy dramedy television series with Emmett Skilton and Tim Balme in the leading roles, designed by James Griffin and Rachel Lang. It is produced for the New Zealand TV3 since 2010 by South Pacific Pictures. The series is about Axl Johnson, who learns on his 21st birthday that he is a member of a family of born-again Norse gods. In New Zealand, the series started on February 7, 2011 on TV3.

Action

The series follows the students Axl Johnson, who discovers on his 21st birthday that his other family members are reincarnations of Nordic gods. This is only a problem that they can not control properly and use their super powers. So it is up to Axl to regain the reincarnation of Odin, and thus to guarantee the survival of the family by to find the reincarnation of Odin's wife, Frigg. The search is complicated by antagonistic gods, who in turn try Frigg before the Johnsons to find and so to prevent the restoration of control over their forces.

In addition, the Johnsons and their rivals are not the only Nordic deities who live in New Zealand in exile.

Production and broadcasting

The first broadcast in New Zealand began on February 7, 2011 at the local TV3. After ten episodes broadcast the first season ended on 11 April 2011. A second season was decided in June 2011 and produced from October 2011 to February 2012. The broadcast of the second season was seen between 29 February and 23 May 2012 in TV3. After initial reports of a deposition in early September 2012 the New Zealand government- supported media promoting NZ on Air was still produces an extension to a third season using a grant. The broadcast of the third season began on July 4, 2013.

Internationally, the series is broadcast in Australia at the transmitter and Network Ten in the UK at the local Syfy offshoot.
