The Count of Monte Cristo is a musical by Frank Wildhorn ( melodies), Koen Schoots ( arrangements ), Kim Scharnberg ( orchestration ) and Jack Murphy ( texts). It is based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas and was 14 March 2009 at the Theater St. Gallen ( St. Gallen, Switzerland ), directed by Andreas Gergen premiered in German language.

The plot is based on the original novel, wherein the act of extensive novel had to be greatly reduced in order to come to a cycle duration of about two and a half hours.

The published end of 2008 CD with the English original song reached even before its premiere number one in Germany and number four in the UK. In 2010 the piece in Korean translation in Seoul ran. In 2013, the piece at the open-air theater Tecklenburg was performed.
