The Crüxshadows

The Crüxshadows [ kɹu ː ˌ ʃædoʊz ] is an American synth rock band from Florida.

Band History

The Crüxshadows was founded in 1992 by Rogue, Sean Flanagan and Tim Curry in Tallahassee. Her debut album ... Night Crawls In was released in 1993 under its own label Black Widow Music on Cassette. In 1996 with Telemetry of a Fallen Angel, the first CD. On it is located with Marilyn, My Bitterness one of the most famous pieces of the Crüxshadows. 1997 signed a contract with The Crüxshadows Nesak International, in the same year they left the label but again and switched to Dancing Ferret Discs. Shortly before the re-release of Telemetry of a Fallen Angel in 1998, left the band curry and Flanagan.

With a new cast was 1998, the album The Mystery of the Whisper EP Until the Voices Fade and 2000 produced the EP Paradox Addendum 1999. The piece Deception was established in 2000 on the soundtrack of the computer game Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption published. Also since 2000, the Crüxshadows become more actively engaged in the European, especially the German market. So Deception Deception was published in a German version with the title and a first European tour performed. In 2001, a best-of was released, the title Intercontinental drift was in Europe and was called in the United States Echoes and Artifacts. Later editions took over the U.S. title.

In 2002, the EP Tears that staying for eight weeks in the German alternative charts and reached number 5 appeared. In the same year the album Wish Fire was released, which reached number 2 in the DAC. In 2003, Ethernaut with the song Winter Born ( This Sacrifice ). The CD Fortress in Flames from 2004 contained remixes. The cover art of the albums Ethernaut and Fortress in Flames took over Chad Michael Ward.

With Shadowbox the first DVD was released in 2005, contains the recordings of the gig at the Wave -Gotik-Treffen 2004, several music videos and a documentary about the band. In addition, the DVD, the EP Forever load was. On 22 September 2006, the single Sophia appeared. In 2007, the album was released Dreamcypher. In the summer, Rachel left the band.

Success

Although the band is from the U.S., it has so far mainly in Europe, especially in the black scene in Germany, her biggest success. She played in 2002, 2004 and 2007 at the Wave -Gotik-Treffen. 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2013 they performed at the Mera Luna Festival in 2008 on the Blackfield Festival and 2010 and 2012 at the Amphi Festival. The band is known for extensive touring activities, she plays more than 100 concerts per year up to 25,000 spectators.

The greatest commercial success for The Crüxshadows Sophia was the single, which reached # 1 on the Hot Dance Singles U.S. sales charts. Reached also with the general single charts Sophia 7th place the top ten. Rogue said in an interview that the good chart position have to do with an appearance at Dragon * Con.

Style

Stylistically, The Crüxshadows is attributable to the rock and electro-pop environment, previous songs of the band tended isolated in the Dark Wave environment.
