The Departure

The Departure is an indie rock band from Northampton.

In February 2004, The Departure had their first gig in a pub in Northampton. After her second appearance in London, they took their first demo, and brought many A & R men to their third appearance in Northampton. They signed a recording contract with Parlophone and then came quickly to considerable success. They were already half a year after her first appearance at the Reading Festival. At this time her single All Mapped Out was already in the UK's top 30

On 17 February 2006, the guitarist Lee Irons left the band. Thereafter, drummer Andy Hobsen was replaced by founding member Simon Alexander.

The recordings on the second album Inventions was completed in early 2008. But differences of opinion with the record company Parlophone provided for the dissolution of the Quartet.

Singer David Jones and guitarist Sam Harvey work in mid-2008 on a new project.
