The Equals

The Equals was a British pop band with Baby Come Back had its biggest hit in 1968.

The originating from Jamaica twins Dervin ( Derv ) and Lincoln Gordon ( * June 29, 1948 ) founded the Equals, 1965 in London. Other band members were Pat Lloyd and John Hall of London and later as a soloist successful Eddy Grant.

The band's name alludes to the fact that in it - still unusual in the 1960s - played black and white musicians together.

In 1966, the band a record deal. The first single in the same year was I Will not Be There, which was especially successful in Holland and Germany. Baby Come Back was the smash hit of the group. Other hits were, for example, I Get So Excited, Laurel & Hardy, Green Light and Viva Bobby Joe, all of which appeared in Germany under the record label "President".

1976, dissolved the Equals. However, the revival boom of the late 1980s also brought the Equals back to the stage. The new cast was besides the Urmitgliedern Derv Gordon ( vocals) and Pat Lloyd ( bass) from Ronnie Telemaque (drums) and David Martin ( guitar).
