The Flirts

The Flirts was an American disco project of producer Bobby Orlando ( * 1958 ), which was able to record several chart hits in the 1980s. The most successful single in 1983 Passion. The Flirts were counted among the representatives of the Italo - disco, but are also pioneers of Hi- NRG.

Band History

1980 developed the producer and songwriter Bobby Orlando the concept for a dance act with three singers. Orlando played most of the instruments himself and produced the songs for his label O Records. The girls were mainly hired as eye-catching and always filled by the Blond- Brunette - haired scheme.

The first band consisted of Andrea del Conte ( blonde), Rebecca Sullivan (brunette ) and Sandra K'kay ( redhead ), the latter soon by Holly Kerr ( redhead ) has been replaced. In this lineup (Andrea, Rebecca, Holly), the first album 10 Cents a Dance was recorded in 1982, and also in the video clip for the single Jukebox (Do not put another dime ) this formation is seen. Andrea del Conte is heard as the lead singer, among others on the title Passion. She had previously worked as a background singer and dancer for other bands. Rebecca Sullivan sings the title Calling all boys. She has previously worked for several years as a model for the New York agency Wilhelmina Models.

In the course of 1982 Holly Kerr was replaced by the dancer Hope Reyman. In this formation (Andrea, Rebecca, Hope ) was in the autumn / winter of 1982 several TV appearances in Europe with the Single Passion completed (including in the shows Premiatissima / Italy and Toppop / NL). Passion rose then in early 1983 in several European countries in the charts and became a Top 10 hit in Germany and in Switzerland.

In September 1983, came another appearance on the U.S. television show American Bandstand, in the upcoming album Born to already announced flirt. Shortly thereafter, however, it came to a rift with Bobby Orlando, as a result all three ladies were exchanged.

1986 faded interest in the retort volume. In subsequent years, various best-of albums, but also new editions of older tracks as singles and maxi-singles came in the stores.

Chart positions

The single reached the Top 10 Passion in Germany and in Switzerland. Helpless ( You Took My Love ) reached in 1985 in both countries, the top 20 in the United States, the flirtations with the singles Boy Crazy and passion were (both 1982), You & Me and Dancin ' Madly Backwards (both 1985) and Miss You and New Toy (both 1986) to the high-flyers of the dance scene and achieved high rankings on the Billboard dance charts.
