Music

The music from FSOL is often assigned solely to the ambient, but the work of Dougan and Cobain are distinguished by their musical diversity. The late eighties, early nineties resulted in a series of early techno and ambient techno productions. In the course of the 90 years their music became more heavily influenced by pure Ambient, Ambient Dub, Drum and Bass, Big Beat and Trip-Hop. At the same time the work of Dougan and Cobain's got a more complex and sometimes very experimental character. In him was combined a nifty game between harmonies and dissonances with sometimes quite dark sound collages, which are found on the album Dead Cities peaked.

End of the 1990s it became very quiet around FSOL and the two artists devoted themselves reinforced after a hiatus, the very closely angelehntem in the past FSOL Amorphous Androgynous project. However, they have focused musically reinvented and created a very experimental mix of electronic music and psychedelic rock & pop.

It was not until 2006, Dougan and Cobain have again turned to FSOL. A best-of album was released, played on BBC 6 Music with a live set so far partly unknown material, and produces a 5.1 soundtrack for a sound installation at the exhibition Life Forms in the Kinetica Museum.
