The Global Experience

The Global Experience ( formerly Solar Net International Association) is an international non -governmental organization involved in the field of global and development education and in social and environmental projects.

History

The German club The Global Experience eV (then under the name " Solar Net International") founded in the summer of 2005 by a group of students and teachers at the Schiller High School in Münster. The aim of the group was to bring together young people from different countries in projects, thus strengthening intercultural dialogue sustainable. In 2006 the club was awarded at the local level with the developmental North-South Prize of the city of Münster. A short time later succeeded by various media projects to reach a wide audience via the Internet. The association published on his Youtube channel, among other video courses, which attracted worldwide to resonate at said enthusiastic youngsters.

2011, notified the club in agreement with the project managers of its international network, which included at that time over 8000 registered members from 160 nations, in "The Global Experience". The new name more attention should be the main purpose of the association, the promotion of global learning and intercultural exchange programs in the focus.

Online Community

The positive response to the Youtube offerings enabled The Global Experience, a global online community build its own web portal, which since then several thousand members from over 150 countries registered. On the website presenting students from around the world reports from their daily lives, discuss global issues and find deals on intercultural learning programs. The web portal was awarded in the fall of 2011 in Graz with the World Summit Youth Award, which honors the best projects in the world to implement the UN Millennium Development Goals with the help of digital media.

Projects and Activities

The Global Experience initiates and supports projects of global learning and education for sustainable development. In addition to these globally oriented projects and campaigns, lead local GE groups ( also of Germany and in Poland, Vietnam, Belgium, Colombia and Zimbabwe) independent projects.

Since 2005, the club organizes regular exchange trips to promote intercultural understanding. In February 2006, the GE youth group Münster published jointly with partner pupils of Baumgartsbrunn Institutes for Domestic Sciences a series of interviews on the topic of "Women in the German and Namibian society ". The project was awarded on 9 May 2006 by Federal President Horst Köhler awarded the special prize " girl worlds " Welthungerhilfe.

In the spring of 2007 produced students of the Global Experience Groups Germany, Namibia and Poland in Namibia the children's film " About Those two" in the local language Khoekhoegowab which has since been regularly featured in the holiday program of the Namibian public television station NBC. The film premiered in the fall of 2007 in CINEMA in Münster and won the student competition of the magazine FOCUS " school makes future" third prize.

Since 2007, the association has together with its partners in Poland regularly international youth conferences and students from around the world come to those for two to three weeks during the summer in Germany and Poland.

In summer 2011, The Global Experience launched the project " International Reporters". On the website www.internationalreporters.org reported a Redaktionseam of pupils and students from 20 nations on cultural topics, issues of sustainable development and social and political perspectives of young people in their home countries. The project was awarded in November 2011 as part of Congress World Wide knowledge in 2011 as Good Practice Project for Education for Sustainable Development in Saarbrücken.
