The Halos

The halo was an American doo-wop vocal quartet of the early 1960s.

Band History

The quartet was originally hired as backing vocals for solo artists; so for example for Tommy Hunt, Bobby Vinton, Johnny Nash, Little Eva, Johnny Mathis, Dion, The Coasters, Connie Francis, Brian Hyland and Ben E. King. The group took over as the background in the recording of Pretty Little Angel Eyes by Curtis Lee.

With the song Nag they had in 1961, its largest eigenvalue success and reached number 25 in the U.S. charts. The success of the Nag group opened many doors and soon the halos were in great demand as a backing choir. Apart from two Curtis Lee singles, the group can be heard on hits like Who Put The Bomp by Barry Mann and Gene Pitney Every Breath I Take My Heart and in Cries For You by Ben E. King.
