The Horse with the Flying Tail is an American documentary from 1960, which was produced by Larry Lansburgh for The Walt Disney Company. The 48 -minute film is about a Palomino pony, rising through a series of owners and adventures in the U.S. horse show team.

Action

Initially, the pony Pelo de Oro, which was designed to accompany a herd of cattle in New Mexico, sold and resold, and it is some times badly treated. Finally, the talent is discovered for jumping competitions for the U.S. equestrian team by the coach Hugh Wiley as well as the team captain Bertalan de Némethy. It finally occurs in a Royal International Horse Show in London. The pleasure of training for competitions in show jumping shows the horse, in which the ponytail flying at each hop in the air. Last succeeds the pony under his new name Nautical at the Pan American Games in 1959 in Chicago to win a gold medal.

Awards

At the Academy Awards in 1962, the film was awarded the Oscar for best documentary. The award was accepted by director and producer Larry Lansburgh.
