The Idle Race

The Idle Race were an English band of the late 1960s from Birmingham. She was the first music group from Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood, who later became founders of the Electric Light Orchestra.

Career

The band was founded in the occupation of Al Johnson, Dave Pritchard, Brian Cope, Roger Spencer and frontman Billy King Billy King and The Night Riders 1959. Smaller successes they have achieved as a new singer until Mike Sheridan, and in 1964 they signed under the name of Mike Sheridan and The Nightriders a recording contract with EMI. At this time, replaced guitarist Roy Wood and bassist Greg Cope Masters and Johnson. As the commercial success continued forthcoming, Wood left the band in 1965 and founded his own band The Move. Even Sheridan rose shortly afterwards left the band, which is now called The Night Riders. Successor of Wood as lead guitarist Jeff Lynne was, was renamed to its instigation, the band's name to The Idle Race. 1967 helped the now standing with The Move in the British charts Wood his former band to a recording contract with Liberty Records.

Although the band of radio presenter John Peel frequent airplay was on BBC radio and was well received by critics, it was none of her singles ( "Here We Go Around The Lemon Tree ," "The Skeleton And The Roundabout " and " The End of the Road " ) place in the charts. The end of 1968 's first album under the name " The Birthday Party " was released, but it turned into a commercial flop. After the departure of Mike Hopkins Lynne and Dave Walker joined the band, after their last album " Time Is " broke the band on.
