The Ink Spots
The Ink Spots were a vocal band, especially in the 1940s had a string of hits and the rhythm and blues, especially the Doo Wop, paved the way.
History
The band was founded in the early 1930s in Indianapolis by Jerry Daniels, Ivory " Deek" Watson, Charlie Fuqua and Orville " Hoppy " Jones. In1936 lead singer Daniel the Ink Spots, was found replacement in Bill Kenny. After a few unsuccessful shots at Victor Records was released in 1939 on Decca Hitballade If I Did not Care, which for a long time with 19 million copies sold record holder remained in singles and initiated a number of other hits.
By 1943, appeared among others We Three (My Echo, My Shadow and Me ), When the Swallows Come Back to Capistrano, Whispering Grass, Do I Worry, Java Jive and Shout, Brother, Shout. 1944 brought a collaboration with Ella Fitzgerald hits Cow Cow Boogie and I'm Making Believe about, another success this year was Into Each Life Some Rain Must Fall.
But there was in this and in the following year a number of lineup changes. Fuqua had the military and was replaced by Bernie Mackey, Jones died at the end of the year. Even Watson returned the Ink Spots in 1945 to found the back to his own band, for him came Bill Bowen. As a replacement for Jones was briefly Cliff Givens to the band, which was replaced shortly thereafter by Bill Kenny's brother Herb. Meanwhile, Mackey went their own way, a new member was Huey Long. End of the year, Fuqua's service was terminated, he returned to the Ink Spots, whereupon Long went back.
1946 appeared next to To Each His Own arguably the greatest hit of the band in the form of The Gypsy. Until the 1950s this occupation remained, then left Herb Kenny, the Ink Spots. Bill Kenny began to publish in addition to working with the band and solo recordings. There were a number of other lineup changes until the band split in 1954.
In Britain, the Ink Spots, entitled You're Breaking My Heart 1949 had her biggest success. The song reached # 1 on the singles charts and was quoted 20 weeks in the top ten. With Melody Of Love them succeeded in 1955, a second Top Ten hit.
Since the late 1950s there were dozens of different Ink Spot reunions, but all of no significant successes more brought into existence. In 1989, the Ink Spots in category " Early Influences " was added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, followed in 1999 to join the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.

Almost all the songs of the Ink Spots start with identical, only minimally modified, four guitar chords I - # iDim - II7 - V7.

Modern media, especially computer games, discover The Ink Spots lately again. A wider audience were the songs by the RPG Fallout ( Maybe ) and its successor, Fallout 3 (I Do not Want to Set the World on Fire ) and Fallout: New Vegas is known ( Whispering Grass, If I Did not Care, etc.). With the use of the music of The Ink Spots, reference should be made to the predecessors to connect the end-time mood with the idealized sense of the 1930s to 1950s.
Furthermore, the Ink Spots songs in video games Bioshock, Bioshock 2, LA Noire and Mafia 2 were used.
