The Kid with a Bike is a film drama directed by Jean -Pierre and Luc Dardenne from the year 2011, which was created in Belgian- French-Italian co-production.
Action
The twelve- year-old Cyril Catoul was given by his father Guy for a month in a children's home. After the elapsed time, the boy tried to reach his father by phone, but the number suddenly no longer awarded. Try in vain to explain to him the educators in the home that his father has moved. Do not know where he is and Cyril does not believe them. In school, he escapes and seeks to the block of flats where he lived with his father. Production
The boy with a bicycle was shot in Oupeye and Seraing in the province of Liège. The film underwent 15 May 2011 at the International Film Festival in Cannes premiered and came in the French, Belgian and Italian cinema three days later. On 25 June 2011, the film on the Munich Film Festival was first seen in Germany and came on January 12, 2012 in the Swiss and on February 9, 2012 in the German cinemas. On 31 August 2012, the film was released on DVD.

At the International Film Festival in Cannes The boy won by bicycle in 2011 the Grand Jury Prize and was in competition for the Golden Palm. At the European Film Awards 2011, he was Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress for a price nominated in the categories and was awarded the European Film Award for Best Screenplay. Also in 2011 he was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Satellite Awards in the category.
In 2012, the film received a César Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film and was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film (for Belgium ) nominated.
